mazdaspeed miata?
ive been looking at these all day today and i am pretty impressed with it. i really want a testdrive. what do you al lthink of them?
lsd, stronger rods, axles, and shot peened trans gears, turboed and intercooled. with 17 inch racing harts from the factory. and all the other little extra gimmicks really make the car stand out. it puts down high 14, low 15 second quarter mile times, and has a good 0-60 time. make around 180hp and 160tq. i see some room for improvement already, like how much of a buck tooth that tiny stock intercooler looks like. must get heat soaked pretty fast. and the small turbo on the car, has like a max. boost of like 7 psi? definately see some room for improvement. although the little 1.8 still can make great numbers, it looks like replacing just the downpipe can give you 20hp/tq to the wheels.

i test drove one before i got my car..i just liked the tq in my car compaired to it..and i liked how much more "stable" mine felt..but what almost had me on that is its rwd and a convertable..but the FINALY thing that changed my mind is that my head goes over the top of the windsheild and i wouldnt be able to ride with the top up..
fyi the rods aren't any stronger than a 99/00 engine. Unless you really want a new car, I'd suggest saving some money and buying a normal Miata and putting an aftermarket kit on it. You will make more power for less money this way.
it says on their website that they changed the pistons and beefed up the connecting rods. they wanted "reliability" to be a big thing in this car. and imo the new miatas are damn ugly. another car with factory altezzas? no thankyou.

I test drove one at the Mazda Rev-It-Up event. After I shoe horned myself into the seat, it was an okay car. Felt slower than a Spec Miata I rode in a while ago.
For the price I'd rather do as suggested above and buy a used Miata then look into a turbo kit. Heck, even some n/a bolt on's would make it out perform the MS Miata.
Plus if the MS Miata is anything like the MS Protege...I'd stay far, far away from that vehicle. The performance and long term reliability of the MS Protege is questionable at best.
