You really aren't comparing apples to oranges. Nitrous is an oxidizer, basically it adds oxygen to the combustion process. Propane is a fuel. Propane has a higher octane rating than gasoline (I think its about 110), and its cheap per gallon. The reason you don't see it used very often is its a bulky system and the parts are expensive and kinda rare. Propane is stored in a big, heavy tank as a liquid at high pressures. It is then fed into the motor as a gas. To do this, you have to use a mixer which is basically a carb. There really aren't any performance mixers out there, so you have to tweak an available system from a few companies that don't like selling to individuals or sharing with tuning secrets. It can be done, but Nitrous is FAR easier to get running.
so i talked to my friend thats gonna hook it up for me..he said that it takes the fuel out all together which i didnt know..you spray nitrous and propane into the motor..i thought it was propane and fuel..but its propane and nitrous..i will have to have 2 separate tanks and he said that it doesnt puddle and its a lot safer...so i have to buy a nitrous kit then im paying him 100 bucks to set up the propane..then i will let everyone kno how it goes..
1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Twin Turbo Twin Intercooled
- Test day parameters
* Running NGK BCPR7ES copper Gapped to 34
* 91 Octane (That's the highest AZ has)
* 19PSI on Twin TEC 17Gs
* 100F outside BRIGHT sun so blacktop is HOT
* This was after 2 hours of hard WOT tuning the setup and The HKS IC's were too hot to TOUCH
* Back to Back Propane Off / Propane On runs
- LEGEND
* RPM=RPM
* O2=O2 sensor or Oxygen Sensor
* TPS=Throttle Position Sensor 99=WOT
* Timing=Timing
* Knock=Detonation as reported by Knock Sensor
* Air Temp=Air temp at the MAF/MAS <not at the plenum
Thin Vertical Line is the Time Snapshot that the numbers are relating to

Found this while doing research about propane injection. Ended up going the meth route though.

That's not that big of a decrease in air temp to justify the complexity. If you're going through the trouble, add water, alky or even nitrous. My friends SVO Mustang used to drop air temps during a 1/4 mile pass once the alky kicked in. He ran 7.80's at 94mph in a full weight SVO mustang with no intercooler at all.
