I have an SUV, because I want an SUV. Besides, this is not an econo-car website, it is a website for car guys/gals. When you add performance parts, you lose gas mileage. Lets just agree that everybody in Florida sucks at driving. Depending on the thread, its is either the old people, the young people, the soccer mom, the northerner, the biker, the ricer, the rich guy in the exotic, etc. that is cutting you off. I have an SUV for hauling the family around, and it mostly stays at home, since my wife is a stay-at-home mom. Unless you drive a Prius or a moped, get off the box, because you aren't that concerned about gas mileage. When you add your performance parts, you compromise gas mileage for the most part, although this is not always true. BTW, ever notice the people driving the "gas-miser cars" drive like they think they are sports cars?

Flame on

Actually, in many cases you can have increased both. If you turbo your car, intake, exhaust, intercool, you'll have more power at the same point as before, so you dont need to rev as much to get around. This is why my friend's MX-3 sucks ass at gas mileage...in Sarasota traffic, you need power to get around

Doesn't Toyota have a full size, hybrid SUV? I'd actually like to see those big bastard guzzlers using hybrid technology. Nobody buys an SUV to go off road or up mountain trails, so they might as well get decent mileage and leave the gas guzzling to my old domestics

My GF has an MX-3 and she easily gets 25+mpg, and most of her driving is in Holiday/New Port Richey and on US19 traffic.

They both lost 100% of their respective region's wars.
hundred years war, the french forced the english out of continental france, and regardless of what the joke says, it was won well after joan of arc was burned alive.

Do I think the current gas prices will cause the death of SUV's? No, but the seed is planted in most owners minds now, and if gas prices continue to rise, I think you'll see that SUV pride really getting in the way of better economics. At 5 dollars a gallon, then we will see major changes, and perhaps, the death of the commonly owned suv.
+1 for all of it. SUV's won't go away, they whole idea of the SUV will change shape.

I'm noticing a lot fewer SUV's speeding by at 85 mph on the bridge lately. I hope all those gluttonous, jingoistic bastards really start to feel the squeeze when their excursion rings up a triple-digit bill at the fuel pumps. I laugh every time I see an H2, and I smile when I see aggressive bastards weaving through traffic, wasting gas.

I used 7 gallons of gas to commute 226 miles for work this week!
