The reason I went for this platform is because of how easy and cheap it is to make power...

traction gets you into the 11's along with being one hell of a driver to handle the total package together

and i wish you the best for all of it

nice job on the piping.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

RX300 driven myself, but you dont have to drive the car to know which ones are more comfortable

The main reason we have such a nice kit on a SOHC is because the project snowballed, like most. It started out as a basic non-vtec swap and a small T3, and it developed into this over a year.

11s should be attainable. Traction will be the limiting factor, I have some small slicks mounted on VX wheels, but it still has an open diff.

I'm sorry, but once I was browsing through an SCC to find an article of an H22 in a CRX with nitrous still get only 209wHP, not to mention 186 foot lbs, I couldnt help but roll my eyes and turn the page. Before the K24, I thought the H22 was the ultimate end-all Honda engine...but after this, you wonder if it was really worth it.

Chet, I love the hell out of your Colt 4G63, but seriously man...why a once cam pissant 4 banger?

I'm not trying to say my car(s) are the end all be all platform, but I personally just dont see the point....can it be fast? Fuck yes, I'd be surprised if you DIDNT hand me my ass when its done, but its just that there are other ways to go fast in something like that...

For instance, the Chevy Sprint. About as light, 1 cyl less and 1 turbo more. If you put the same amount into both CRX (whatever Honda engine it may be powered by) and the Sprint, I can guarentee you the Sprint will put out much more.

The reason I went for this platform is because of how easy and cheap it is to make power...for instance, my red car is only $700 away or so from getting another 100 HP. My silver car is just $1500 away from doubling it's power. In the end, I still have a comfortable car that will out-luxury anything on the interstate at any speed, get quite decent gas mileage, and be able to survive a crash from anything less than a dually pickup without a scratch.

However you obviously arent doing this to make easy power, you're doing it because you can and it'll rape anything it comes across while still getting 30+ mpgs easily. Props to you so far and beyond.

its hard to respond to some of your posts because you really don't have any idea about some of the things you write.

first, unsleeved sohc cam motors have made 410whp. this was done by a friend of mine with a very basic setup that he spent very little time putting together. sleeved sohc motors have made almost 500whp and this again was done by a guy i know in winchester virginia.

dan (pheobo) is another guy locally who will make pretty good power with his sohc setup. now obviously, i would have chosen a b-series motor for this project although it came together as garrett said, with the project snowballing into what it is at this point. the axles/transmission aren't as strong as b-series axles/transmissions but this car is light and it should do ok once we weld the center diff.

i'm not really too worried about the motor because it will eventually get sleeves or we'll go with a b-series setup instead. ideally, we'll get enough power out of this setup where it is still somewhat reliable and something that can be taken to the track...to have fun with...etc...
