AWD + Rain = Warm fuzzy feeling
Yesterday, when the rain hit, I may have been the only person driving on Hillsborough with a huge friggin' smile. The whole damned road, from the Sheldon intersection up to Countryway, was flooded. As a result, traffic was pretty much at a standstill as cars fought to merge into the only lane that wasn't underwater. I on the other hand was having a ball. With a flooded lane all to myself, I just plowed on through, passing traffic and the occasional waterlogged car. If I had been driving my old Civic, I'd have been sitting in a parking lot waiting it out and bitching about having installed a CAI.

I'm just seriously impressed with this Subaru. In the few areas I encountered that weren't underwater, I felt like I was driving on dry road. When I got back into the water, the car stayed stable and didn't hydro-plane. Hell, I could even mash the pedal without encountering any loss of traction. From this point forward, I think I'm going to have a hard time justifying the purchase of any car without AWD. It's just that good.

Believe me, I know what you mean! Isn't it great?
Another thing I love about the car overall is the handling. I can go hard into a corner, pushing to the outside, let off the gas a tiny bit and she tightens up and hugs the road....so friggen easy to drive fast!

We drove through that mess in rush hour at the same time Bill. I was in my girl's FWD subby. It wasn't fun for her. She was freaking out, and kept telling me not to let off the gas cause the car would die. Although the water wasn't quite high enough to worry about that. I had a blast. She was pretty aggitated, being car sick, and thinking we were going to hydroplane.

I said this exact same thing to my brother last night driving home from dinner. I was rather annoyed that I was forced to slow to 10 under the limit because everyone else had less than the adequate number of drive wheels.
i know what u mean, on the way up to orlando a flash flood seem to hit the right part of i-4 but when all the other traffic was slowing down i just kept on going the speed limit and never felt so safe in the rain!
