If you want to drive without a seatbelt, fine by me. But don't try to claim it on insurance if you get in an accident and go through the windshield, getting sliced as you do.

Anyone not wearing a seatbelt should have their head smacked into the windshield, just to let them know what it feels like. And that's BEFORE you go THROUGH the glass. And THAT is before you hit the pavement, which is BEFORE you slide at whatever speed your pick-em-up truck was travelling (minus the energy lost going through the windshield, of course). Essentially, that is the first of how it would feel like, seconds before you die a certainly painful death.

Fine by me, just don't make me late for work waiting for them to scrub your brain off the pavement.

I was using the seatbelt as an example. What I'm trying to say is it's still our right whether we want or don't want to wear a seatbelt regardless of the persons intelligence. Heres another; if smoking is so bad to your health and the others around how come it's not illegal yet? We can kill ourselves slowly but God forbid you drive without a seatbelt, or why not just ban anything dangerous like motorcycles or convertible cars......

I have a car with T-tops, IF it were to roll over, I suppose it wouldn't be safe. Of course it has enough rust to fail inspection up north (hole in floor) as well.

And no...it isn't a right to not wear a seatbelt. You WANT it to be your right, because it's uncomfortable. Until you have a accident, and then you'll wish it was on.

Smoke stinks. Maybe you don't realize that. It has a nasty smell that is on par with raw exhaust. Why isn't it illegal? MONEY.

Having to use turn signals for lane changing? YOU ALREADY HAVE TO. My wife got pulled over for that a while ago. I side with the officer on that; I know she tends to do the look/signal/turn all in one motion. But it doesn't help that the Buick's turn signal blinks about once every 3 seconds.

Now here's one...she got a ticket not for the signal, but for....not having "proof of insurance" because her card that she DID have, was expired. He checked the insurance through his super-duper-wiz computer and found it was current. -YET- she gets a ticket for not having PROOF OF INSURANCE! How about the fact the officer just told her she has active insurance?

WHY do we still have to carry proof of something that can be looked up? WHY do I have to keep a sticker on my tag, showing current registration, if I have paid my taxes and registration already, but forgot to put the sticker on? The officer runs the tag, sees it's current, and YET, still pulls you over.

Why can I find roads in N.C. with a speed limit of 55 mph, on a 2 lane country road, with blind turns, etc? Yet, US 19 is 45 mph. Busch Blvd is 45 mph. I-275, a 6 lane divided highway, is 55 mph.
There are some roads I've not felt comfortable going the speed limit. On others I wonder what moron pulled that number out of his ass. In the end, regardless of the reason, it makes us feel like they're doing it just for the sake of setting up speed traps for revenue. THAT is what I have a problem with.
Catch me fair and square going 80 on 275. But don't drop the speed limit to 40 for no reason, just to "catch" me going too fast.

It's also my RIGHT to burn the flag. Will I? No. THAT is what makes this country so great. We have the freedom to express ourselves, yet most of us find other, more respectful ways of doing so. Taking away the ability to protest is taking away yet another freedom we enjoy. Perhaps when someone is burning the flag in protest, you should realize they feel STRONGLY about something, so much so that they feel the country's ideals are being put in jeopardy.

Wow Im really screwed now. I dont listen to my music loud so im safe there. But using my turn signals, im sure I dont do that 100%. Now the next time I dont think to use them, im gettin a ticket. Also it sucks that they can pull you over for not wearing a seatbelt. I personally dont like to wear them, I believe in fate.

Fate? LOL so does my wife. I don't.

Now, if I wear my seatbelt, and it fails, that would be "fate." But leaving it off is "suicidal."

I do tend to have my music loud. I enjoy it. I don't have A/C, it's hot out, so I have my windows down. I like my music loud, but not blaring. I turn it down at lights usually, or in traffic, out of respect for other drivers that for whatever reason, don't have any music playing. I've had no radio before...as long as I have one, I will be playing music. It will be rock, and it will be loud. (or it will be oldies, and it will be loud)

I use my turn signals, when necessary. Lane changes are one where I am very particular, in fact. I look, signal, look again, and then slowly change lanes. I've too many times started changing lanes when I THOUGHT it was clear, and only stopped when I heard honking. No more. I look, or I don't move.

Aside from the radio, I leave myself no other distractions in the car. No cellphone. No CD's or tapes to fiddle with. No checkbook, PDA, laptop, etc.

I blare the hell out of my stereo when I'm travelling down a highway. I do turn it down when I'm in town, but I'm sure it can be heard more than 25 feet away. Oh well, it all comes down to how the cop feels that day.

I agree I look at it this way if you die at the age of 25 due to not wearing a seatbelt in a car accident the government has just lost lots of tax dollars. BUT if you die slowly while smoking something that you pay taxes on while you pay all your other taxes cha~ching for the government. I think if they are out for our best interests and health they would ban smoking anything.

How is burning a flag protesting in the first place. If you want to protest someones actions like Bush burn his picture, not the flag that represents ALL OF US. The flag has more to do with the people who make up this great country than it's leaders. If you feel this country has betrayed you so much that burning a flag is the last resort, just LEAVE.

I'm not trying to get in a pissing match with you. I respect YOUR views, all I'm trying to get across is that we are letting the people who run this country over run us with dumb laws. PROTECT EVERYONE EQUALLY There is so much that is hypocritical in this law system it's ridiculous.......
