with the Lancer you could get the Evo at the same time so it was associated with being a sports car.

and duceandahalf, if that was you at the track yesterday....you should get a neon, its faster!
I personally perfer when someone with a srt-4 races, persay a mid 12 second mustang. The srt-4 loses and says, "Oh well, it's just a neon." Then, lets say the same person races a mid 15 second honda and waxes him-then says, "You got beat by a neon!" Heh.
High 13's stock is impressive, but not compared to the street racing scene.

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fucking temperamental.
it annoys me that people know so little about the history of the neon, sure its an economy car like a civic, altima, whatever, but back in the day when neons first came out they had the ACR(American Club Racer) version which was a very nice car for its class, winning races right and left, the street version of this car was the neon RT, which was based off the highline(fully loaded) neon, but was meant as a compromise between the ACR and the Highline, and so was therefore somewhat heavier in comparison to the ACR, but still came standard with the DOHC motor and rear disc, the sport models were a step down from the RTs in luxury, but much lighter cars and had an optional DOHC engine option(but rear discs were an option, standard equipment was rear drum) on a side note, some neons originally slated for SOHC engines got a free upgrade to the DOHC version because chrysler had a shortage of SOHC motors because of other cars(plymouth breeze, etc) had just come out and the base engine was a 2.0L SOHC in them, but this is all beside the point, the point is the neon had more racing history before the SRT came out than many other compacts people soup up, neons and racing is not a new thing, now that my rant is over....
