Alright another thread worthy topic. What is it with this term? Ppl love to seem to give the Neon SRT-4s this remark every time. But for some reason, I never hear shit about Evo, "oh its just another Lancer". Or Lightnings with "oh its just another f150"
Is there something really that bad when a car company takes on of their off the shelf cars, and peps it up? Come on we all take some off the shelf car we like and make it better. I dont know of anyone of us on this board that makes a car from scratch.

yeah I think the whole neon thing is kinda dumb because even though it has the body of a neon at heart it's a whole new beast
it's just double standards, I.E. no one says the same thing about Cobras: "it's still a
mustang(base model v6)" or with any other v8 cars like Z28/Trans Am/Formula

omfg thank you i hate that shit its just a neon that shit is so dumb so what we chose the neon what is your point especially when people with shittier cars say that. it gets old you guys give fuckin 15 sec all motor civics credit but a neon can run 11's an what do we hear well at the end of the day its a neon. ohwell i mean its just a neon

actually last night a guy who used to have an evo referred to it as "just a lancer" when someone said the same ole "just a neon" comment.
I just can't get over how many of those damn things I see a day.

I think it comes from the Neon being designed originally not as a sports car but as a economy car that was later turned into a sports car. It is stuck with the stigma of being a Econo-box trying to be something else. How many years was the Neon in production before the SRT-4 came out? after that long you just associate it with being an economy car.
with the Lancer you could get the Evo at the same time so it was associated with being a sports car.
The Mustang was originally a sports car and has always been one, except the Mustang II era everyone has turned a blind eye to those.
The F-body has always been a sports car even though they tend to carry the redneck stigma of the Mullet mobiles
A 6 cyl Mustang is still a sports car (although under powered) the same goes for a 6 cyl F-body.

were just haters. they made it better and faster and more fun. and they havent done it with a honda so, dont pay attention. I wish my civic came stock with a front mount and a torando(turbo) but it didnt so I hate you for that, so in the end its just a neon
