Well I know there have been many threads on getting tickets and everyone says they deserve it. I understand this, but this is one of the most BS tickets Ive ever gotten. Im a pretty responsible driver and tonight was me driving normal. I wasnt speeding and I wasnt even getting on it in anyway. Well I pull into Bennigans in New Tampa and I park my car. I go to get out and a cop comes up behind me and puts his lights on. I get out of my car and was like "Can I help you?" because I know I hadnt done anything wrong. So the fat balding cop gets out of his car and tells me my exhaust was illegal and goes on to tell me that any part other than stock on a car is illegal. I then gave him my license and registration and as I was doing so told him I bought the car like this and didn't know any of it was illegal. He asked when I bought the car and I said around January. I give him all my shit and he comes back and give me a $75 ticket. He said I had to pay it and get my muffler fixed. He then measeured the muffler and shook his head. This just put me through the roof. I was so pissed that I was driving responsibly and doing nothing illegal and I get a ticket for something I didnt even have any part of doing to the car. I have been planning on selling it and putting the stock back on but this ticket just pissed me off. I told him I didnt have the stock exhaust or else it would be on there and he told me to take it somewhere and have it fixed. The guy was just a complete asshole. He then proceeded to just circle around Bennigans and was walking up to cars and shining his flashlight in them. I wanted to take the exhaust off the car right there and beat him with it. He had nothing better to do than harass a citizen that was minding his own business. By the way the exhaust is an Apex-i N1 and I will admit its kind of loud but still this was bullsh*t.

Now my question is should I just bend over and take the $75 ticket or fight it. I really just dont feel like giving in to them. I might go to court with it, but I would I have a legit case?

Sorry for the LONG rant but this just pissed me off.

To make it even better I saw my exgirlfriend like 5 mins later with her new guy. That was just the icing on the cake. [/emo]

You can fight, but not win. Any modification to the factory exhaust is illegal (excepting just fixing it lol).

 

Well just put on the stock exhaust and they will take away your ticket easy as that. I think its like a 5 dollar charge but thats better then 75 bucks dont sweat it ive had worse tickets then 75 dollars.

 

true but if its a complete working exhaust u can still fight and maybe win depends if the judge isa dick or not

You have aftermarket exhaust. You are aware of this. You realize that it's not a legal piece of equipment. You got a ticket. Why are you upset again?

I realize that its "illegal" for whatever reason. My thing was though if I bought the car like this and didnt have a stock exhaust to put on it he could have at least just told me to get it fixed. I was pissed because the guy was just a complete asshole from the beginning. Ive had some cops compliment me on the car and not say a thing about the exhaust and this one was just out to write tickets with a passion.

 

illegal exhaust but.. i long for the day that cops become cool, or at least some of them.
