oh snap you got a fix it ticket! just put a stock exhaust on, go to the sherrifs office near you and let them check it out. then sign the back and you pay $4. I do have a stock muffler of my ex, that probably had 50 miles ran through it. $30 and its yours. OEM honda muffler.

Its very arbitrarily interpreted and enforced by cops but you have already seen how that works.

A nice rumbly V8 or turbo 6 is often overlooked by the cops, but some annoying braap, praap fart can noise coming out of a car with a very noticibly aftermarket exhaust is likely to get a ticket sooner or later.
I have a friend with the quietest aftermarket exhaust I've ever heard on his sr20 240sx. The intake noise overpowers the noise from the exhaust under boost, it's so quiet. He's gotten exhaust tickets because of the polished tip in the course of normal driving around town. My car is running no exhaust at all, with just an empty space where a stock muffler should be, and it is so loud that it hurts my ears when the wastegate opens. I've gone WOT past cops a number of times without getting pulled. It's all discrimination based on how your car looks and if you fit the profile of the kind of person they're discriminating against. My pos beater doesn't fit their profile, his nicely done car with rims, jdm taillights, the exhaust, and a type-x spoiler all with a shiny new paint job attracts their attention.

About that... I know someone that got pulled over for the OEM exhaust b/c it was polished on a Scion TC. I think they are getting a little over zealous with there ticket writing. Ive also heard of someone getting pulled over for the stock wing on a 2g gst.

I guess Ill just sell the exhaust and get the oem in its place. Ive been getting tired of the sound anyway. Eventually Ill be running a simple 3 inch with a magnaflow muffler probably paint it black once I get the turbo shit all together :0

Here are the florida laws. Its kinda BS if u ask me, how the fuck would a cop know if the exhaust had a different legal muffler put on or exhaust system not oem...I ran my huge can for a year and never got busted. I ALWAYS take next turn if I see a cop behind me, and if there is a cop infront of me I slow down and stay in 5th gear. Didnt get caught yet

I got a speeding ticket for doing 43 in a 35 with 2 cars passing me. Then he wrote it up as failure to regard traffic signal, which made a $80 ticket a $280, then he slapped on the $75 exhuast ticket for the icing on the cake. Then I explained to him that the other cars passing me in SUVs should have got the ticket. He told me to shut my mouth unless I wanted more tickets and my car impounded.

Moral is...there are good cops that actually do their job and don't bother you with stupid shit like exhuast tickets and then they're the asshole cops that strive to make your life a living hell becuase you're young, and drive a modified car.
