suv or import?
i am doing a little pole for a presentation in class
gm plans to put more effort into the suv market (which is declining)
and hold off rwd products. while ford is doing basically the oppisite.
do you think they should continue with suv efforts (even thou gas is going up) or create s/t more to our liking in the street scene?
personally i think that they are loosing much of our (younger) generation for not really focusing on the street scene market. hey, we love our cars
thanks for your input

You haven't seen the Pontiac Solstice or the Saturn Sky? Both RWD 4 cyl sportsters. GM has also stated it's intentions on hybrid's...even a hybrid SUV (Saturn Greenline Vue) although no formal production dates have been given. GM is "trying" to get the youth market with the 2.0 supercharged Cobalt SS and Redline ION but styling and performance still falls behind what the market really wants. That and the 2.2 ecotec platform is cleaning up in Nopi and NHRA
It's a shame is somewhat of a turd from the factory though.

Compare the numbers from the Cobalt SS and the SRT-4, and while they are close, the Cobalt beat out the SRT-4 in 0-60, 1/4 mile, skid pad, slalom, and braking.
The editors did point out some problems with the Cobalt but they all seem to fall in line with the same growing pains that the SRT-4 has had a few years to work out and I'd expect Chevy to do the same.
In either case, both cars are offering more then closely priced imports all for a base price of $21k. I'd say Chevy is finally stepping up in the "sport compact" market, which like it or not is where most of the moeny is being spent by the "younger generation" as you put it.
Just my $.02
hold on. what i stated is direct quotes from the ceo so calm down. i already know about gm products saturn and cobalt and the such. around my area only few run the such.
suv sales have gone way down. thats the fact. just calm down fellas

thanks for you help the presentation is in 20min and it seems we all prefer cars with performance not suv's
