What kind of RTV? Like I mentioned earlier, the "grey import gasket maker" they have at places like advance works great. I recently did a tranny service on a neon (Sweet!!), put the rubber gasket in that came with the filter, next morning there was a lake of tranny fluid under it. Pulled the pan again, tossed the gasket, ran a bead of the GIGM around it, let it sit about ten minutes to skin over, put it together and never had another problem.

i use the spray disc brake quiet to hold the gasket in place, and then use permatex form a gasket, or "the right stuff" on top of that.

but if this is for a ka, i dont reccomend using the gasket at all. unless you want it to leak.

+1 on using a small amount of sealant on cork gaskets.

I love some of the new cars that use a hard plastic spacer with an o-ring like rubber seal in it. Those things work damn well with no sealant at all.

yes, cork doesnt like heat at all...

i used several strategically placed dabs of Gray RTV to hold the gasket in place while i positioned the parts. there is one part that had the surface gouged a few times, so i put a skim coat of silicone on it to fill in the imperfections and then applied the gasket.

wire brush/wheel on a drill works wonders for removing gaskets and silicone.
