how do they run so fast.
Jeff Lee's NHRA Stock Eliminator '70 AMX 3240 lbs, .060 over 390 small block with stock heads, stock lift camshaft, stock Motorcraft carburetor and a stock 3195532 cast iron intake - 10.50s at 125 mph.
how the hell can he make that car so fast? the top guys in NHRA Stock Eliminator are running mid/high 10's.

with a stock duel plane intake you can't get the r's high enough for 5.33 gears to make it down the track. i think there only good for 5500r's. i guess ported they could get 6500r's. 28in tires are the tallest tire that will fit and with a 5.33 gear @8000r's it will do 120mph. 4.11's would make it 6500@ 126mph.
but i'm not sure he can port the intake or the heads. i'll have to check the rules.
i'll ask him how many r's he's pulling at the end of the track but i don't think he will tell me. he had the title for a few years and he broke the record a few months back but didn't back it up. i believe he had a problem and didn't try a second run to back it up. i forgot what he posted.
for you diehard manual guys he uses a t10 four speed. who said you can't go fast with a manaul.

"stock lift" which means they will add a shit load of duration to make up for it. They spend shit loads of money on this "stock" shrtblocks to lay down some good #s. I think the fox body mustang guys are laying down low 11s on factory heads, intakes, throttlebodies and "shortblocks"
and like above, some serious short gears, a good suspension and a great driver.
