Which would be your quarter mile king?

Here's a no brainer, but I'm doing it more to prove a point than anything else...and I'm bored. :)

Which would be your platform of choice to cover the 1320 in minimal time, given the same power, weight, engine placement, etc. All things being equal, which driveline would be your pick?

I know the correct answer, but I want to hear some FWD guys...or rather, one particular FWD guy, explain to me why FWD is a better choice. :)

RWD, AWD is great out of the hole but a properly setup RWD can compensate

Vito_Corleone 01-31-2005 03:46 PM

RWD, no question at all.

Skittle 01-31-2005 04:03 PM

The fastest cars in the world are RWD.Period.

bitemark46 01-31-2005 06:19 PM

I thought John Force's car was FWD? lol. -Mark

M374llic4 01-31-2005 06:40 PM

The fastest cars in the world arent exactly fastest because they are rwd. Any car can be the fastest in the world with enough money. 8 second metro anyone?

But yes, rwd is technicaly the best, why do you think the STi comes with the driver controlled center differential? More power to the rear ^_^

Mars_302 01-31-2005 06:49 PM

Im not even responding to this... well i guess I am, in a way, sorta, I dont know, fuck you

DrDirt 02-01-2005 04:27 AM

What does this have to do with Bush being an idiot? Does he race a FWD?

93ex 02-01-2005 04:30 AM

RWD

Ian MMF 02-01-2005 04:40 AM

1320 at the track - rwd

1320 on the street - awd

99TL 02-01-2005 05:42 AM

Cronic 02-01-2005 06:11 AM

Oh wait, I want to change my answer. If we're going in reverse FWD!!!! yeah.

akjeer 02-01-2005 06:12 AM

well in driving FWD it seems to hook up better when im screwin around in a strait line cause there is more weight in the front so the tires grip better. when i drive my dads car which is RWD the tire seem to spin more, but im also comparing 130hp 4cyl FWD to 220hp RWD rotary

You car is going to get "better grip" then any rwd car just because you have a no hp pos vs something with actual power putting it to the ground.

This has to be one of the dumbest post i have seen in a while, why would you even compare those 2 cars  RWD track, AWD street (cosidering its a stop run of 1/4 mile)

the tires spin more on his car because he has more power

the false ideal that FWD gets better traction because it's under
the engine is useless, when you accelerate weight shifts to the
rear, it's basic physics. this will cause a moderately powered FWD
car to experience more traction loss than an equally powered
RWD car

plus torque steer pwnz FWD

tampamax 02-01-2005 07:37 PM

Skittle would be my first choice.

Mars_302 02-01-2005 07:43 PM

we really need to work on your knowledge of vehicle dynamics... the only reason you can hook up reliably is because you would really have to try to spin the tires with 130 hp.

Shockwave 02-25-2005 09:41 AM

Nice to see we have a well educated group of racers here. Ya know, just juding by those poll results :crack:

Orion ZyGarian 02-25-2005 12:47 PM

Nah, before I voted, Real wheel drive was pwning both other answers, and FWD had a bit less than AWD. Hour or two later, FWD had buttload of votes. I mean seriously...FWD?

The Spectacle 02-25-2005 12:51 PM

whoever voted FWD deserves to be castrated

topper 02-25-2005 01:02 PM

then why the hell do you have a fwd?

Rey 02-25-2005 01:10 PM

Rwd !!!!!!!!!!!

TampaWRX 02-25-2005 04:06 PM

What fucking grave digger brought this thread back to life?

Yeah, FWD won. In the TR world of riced out Civics, oatmealed V6 Camaros and sauerkrauted 3-cylinder Volkswagens, is it really any great surprise? John Force is buying his SRT-4 right now, I'm sure.

351coupe 02-25-2005 05:42 PM

HAHAAHHAAHHAAHAAA^^^said oatmealed V6 Camaro's!!!!!!HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!
