Default Sandblasting...

Well id like to get a sandblaster to hurry up the process of sanding down my car. But im not sure how/what to do. what grit would i need to successfully sand down my car and paint it after, no wetsanding? also can you reuse the sand? like sift it? im talking about a tank blaster not like kind that you stick something in the box. let me know any information that would be helpful, thanks

Sand might be a bit too harsh for what you want to do. I think you will need to use a less harsh abrasive or you will might etch and distort your sheet metal.

yeah sand is too abrasive - walnut shells or plastic media.

It really varies by what it is... Wheels and stuff is usually more expensive than a panel because of the nookes and crannies - and of course how much work the place has...

And no = you do not need to wetsand an entire car. is there a reason you have to get it to bare metal? It's a bitch to keep a car in Florida bare metal - it will start rusting the minute you get it there...

I wanted my aluminum boat stripped, some asshole painted it with housepaint. Then I was going to primer it up and paint it some color who knows.

What about those home sandblaster kits... they any good?
