my car is auto, i love nothing better than, eating my doritos with one hand on the wheel and not having to shift, and able to just cruise along, but then again not really being able to control my shift points and not having a good top end are what suck with my automatic..and power breaking, it does make everything heat up pretty good, ive done it i think 3 times outa the year ive had the car. Nuetral drops are more or less like, having 2 gears and while they are spinning slamming the teeth of the gears together..after how much my 180k auto trans has gone throught i see it starting to ware down and starting to act up more often than usual...blah the auto!..the accord transmission is nothing but a slush box..they are known to be crappy...i really dunno how some others hold, but i say take it easy on it, unless you have an extra one laying around or have the cash to get a new one...if its a built tranny, i say go to town with it..some are stronger than others, as in some drag cars, but those aren't your typical family sedan transmissions lol.

No hotter than it gets when you floor it at a light and thats what transmission coolers are for.

As far as manually shifting an auto tranny goes, as long as you are not neutral dropping it or shifting at the wrong speeds it won't wear your tranny out any faster than it would if you let it automatically shift for you.

They are bad, but so fun in a vehicle that isn't yours. Case in point...my father's '93 SHO. Back when Craig was 17 or 18 we would go cruising around in it for whatever reason. Rolling at about 30-35mph he'd throw the transmission into Neutral, floor it, then drop it into Drive. The tire smoke with that car was magnificent. Despite the constant abuse, the car never had any transmission problems.
