U guys had to bring this topic up. So here's where i stand.

Im a import guy. I love imports. I dont really like domestic's that much but i admit when a domestic is the shit. Like the new svt cobra. I would give up my import anyday to pimp one of those.

Ok back to the topic. The reason why i like imports and making them go faster is like the same reason as everyone else. I want to be differnt. WHY u might ask. Every one has a honda, toyota, etc. But u can add little money and hook ur car up to stand out from the crowd. With domestics its the same way just that i cant afford a 18miles per gallon. Or even less. A import saves money plus u can still experience the thrill of going fast. Yet they might not have a might roar. U can spend hrs listen to a 4 cyclinder exhaust. with a v8 u can its lovely.

I consider dropping a turbo and rebuild a HONDA motor cheaper than buying a new svt cobra in the short and long wrong. People buy what they can afford, that it.

i went back to the MK3 toyota supra because it is an economical, RWD, powerful platform to build from..proper exhaust upgrades and a filter will yeild 80rwhp over stock, and the stock turbo is upgradeable to be good to around 425 rwhp, the other supporting mods arent expensive at all either, a fuel pump, regulator, injectors, mass air, intake/exhaust, a tuning apparatus, and a couple other little knick knacks, all in all, i can do those mods, put some MK4 wheels with 275 50 17 nitto's and be able to rip off low 12 second, high 11 second slips with 115-118 mph trap speeds, with a total investment of about $4000, including the cost of my vehicle ....whether or not i do the mods is a different story, i like supra's cause they are a nice cruiser that does'nt have the severe lack of torque a 4 cyl suffers from, although not as ballsy as a V8, a turbo 6 is an excellent comprimise

Exactly what I said earlier. Certain 6ers are pretty much the best in middle of the road.

Smoke3: you seem to be heavily missinformed. People have been getting crazy mileage on the C6, domestics can be "hokkd up" the same ways that a import could, and I'm not sure of your definition on fast (I know my expectancies are low) but if its low, then more power to you because you are easier to please.

I wouldnt stand to listen to ANY 4 banger save for MAYBE a 4G63 or SRT-4 (not sure how they sound, dont remember) for more than 20 minutes...'might roar'..? closer to Grandma's farts...might roar out of something small would be a description for a VQ35, but not even a 2JZ fits that (I'd call it an exotic whiplash). However, I can agree on most modern V8s...such as the Stang. Probably one of the best sounding engines I've ever heard

most turbo 4's shave a similar note for the most part, although distinguishible between each other, the basic note tends to be the same...except the 3S-GTE (Second Generation MR-2 turbo for you non engine code savvy guys ), is a little higher pitched...ill listen to any 4 banger for longe than 20 minutes as long as its A), turbocharged, which entirely changes the sound of the motor, even hondas...or B) has stock exhaust

btw, our very own C500HP, Dan, has the SICKEST sounding car on earth...that is all

John,

I have never seen any car made after 1950 that did not have a plastic part or two in the interior. I also want to know about the squeaks, rattles and moans you are talking about because my car doesn't have any of them. I think that you import types think that since some domestic cars had some rattles amd squeaks tha all domestic cars have rattles and squeaks. True the solid rear axle is dated but it works well and saves money and lets face it its a good compromise. I know all abiut the 240 and all that but the majority of these Ryce Kydz are talking out of their asses, having never driven a rear driver of any type while presently tooling around in FWD econo boxes. That is what I was referring to.

i've owned both domestic and import, and driven in both types of cars. and i'll have to agree that the interior of an import is far better than most domestics. when i drove in Dino's car, it had the same interior as my friends pontiac sunfire. and the mustangs interior looks down right hideous. the way the dash is shaped it looks like there should be another set of guages in the passenger side. but i've had both imports and domestics that the interior sqeaks, especially when i adjust my shocks to the firm setting. but the two tone, well trimmed interior in the accord is nicer than anyother car ive owned.
