Default Hybrid Advice

Now that you have to take out a loan to get gas nowadays, I've been really thinking of getting a hybrid. What do you think is the best Hybrid out there? Do you think they are good vehicles are is too early for them now? Any feedback would be appreciated. I don't know if your into this but i took a gear test on www.planetkaizen.com and scored a 6. Let me know what you got.

I dont think its possible to score better than a 6-7 on that test, I took it a while ago

Hybrids take quite a long time until you actually see any kind of real savings. There is an article in my car and driver magazine saying how people are falling for it, paying more for a lesser car, and not saving any real money.

2005 Honda Civic Sedan
Suggested starting price: $13,160
EPA Gas Mileage: 32 / 38
Gas tank size: 13.2
Miles on single tank: 501.6

2005 Honda Civic Hybrid
Suggested starting price: $19,800
EPA Gas Mileage: 46 / 51
Gas tank size: 13.2
Miles on single tank: 673.2

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Assuming gas is $2.00 a gallon...I think you save $26.00 every time you fill up the Hybrid...but since it is $6640 more, you'd have to fill up your Hybrid 255 times in order for it to pay for the difference.

For the people that know me from other boards, I got my info directly off of Honda's website

Honda crapping out...

I would say the best is the Honda Insight. It's alittle small though.

Even if it takes you some time to see savings, you are at least contributing to the future of effrcient cars, and ever penny you save at day one at the pumps is anoher penny Saudi Arabia and the other pigs of OPEC do not get

When I graduate abnd start practicing, I plan on getting a fun weeken car and a hybrid for daily commute. I dont like giving my money to the oil nations

My advice is the Civic hybrid- it looks lke a normal Civic.

It does take me a bit, I have to see if the front grill is flush or if the rear has the emblem. But what would you call it...a "sleeper?"

But yeah, it'd be fun to just make a chassis and throw an engine at it and toot around town with it. I'd like to do that one day
