Yes it is a three valve(two intake 1 exhaust) with variable timing. In fact Ford has taken this technology to alot of its motors, the 5.4 and v-10 for two examples. My truck has it and it is like night and day at the way it runs compared to a older 5.4

I know the old 4.6 certainly has enough room in the valvetrain to support a wide variety of VVT ideas.

All I can say is its about damn time.

They've had VCT (Variable Cam Timing) since 1995 or so in the states... Just in the 4 cylinder Zetecs. Nothing new, just implementing it into the V-8's, where many of the other manufacturers have not gone.

3 valves per cylinder? Cool, that's what my MX-6 has.
Something else it has that a Honda doesn't- torque.
