is the new ford 4.6 liter supposed to have some time of variable valve ? I was just comparing ford technology to toyota or honda..

Yes it is a three valve(two intake 1 exhaust) with variable timing. In fact Ford has taken this technology to alot of its motors, the 5.4 and v-10 for two examples. My truck has it and it is like night and day at the way it runs compared to a older 5.4

is the one exaust valve on the new motors like extra big or somthing? i dont understand why they would do a 3 valve instead of just fully upgrading to the 4 valve?

but that is just my assumtion
They've had VCT (Variable Cam Timing) since 1995 or so in the states... Just in the 4 cylinder Zetecs.
Nothing new, just implementing it into the V-8's, where many of the other manufacturers have not gone.
