Default Mazda Australia unveils first "extreme car"

Thats right, 361HP RX8. Runs a GT30. Oh and its running a mild 7.5lbs of boost. Imagine if people turned it up to 1BAR.

i didnt read the whole thing, but i never understood why they didnt do that in the first place, the car is well underpowered by todays cars with the turbo it puts it right up there, the only problem is if they jack up the price since the car is already overpriced

Right up there? We're talking an easy 425HP with simple injectors changed and standalone (or piggyback) in a car thats like 3000lbs. Thats low 11s, close to 10s with no internal mods, and basic bolt-ons.

I doubt they wanted to go into turbocharging again because of the reliability issues. its harder to maintain a TT rotary.

single turbo > tt

and once you get a decent size radiator and intercooler on a 13b it should by all rights be as reliable as can be expected from a rotary. have to ask queef about that one.

I was obviously refering to the FD3S, most recent RX-7. However, I still would rather have 2 turbos because I'm ricer like that.

Still going to have heat in the engine bay from that. I'd personally get a radiator and oil cooler too big for the car, just because.

yes i realized you were referring to the fd... just because i'm not 15 doesn't make me retarded. and i'd much rather have a single turbo (less complex, easier to tune, and a gt30 will flow more air with better spool and no sequential hootenanny to have to worry about failing)

second, it's a fucking internal combustion engine, of course there will be heat in the engine bay.

Sorry Mr. Uberman...you should also know that a majority of FD owners switch to paralell anyways. Welcome to an internet forum. Here we POST OPINIONS. My opinion is that 2 turbos are better. kthnxbi

Yes there are definite advantages of a single turbo setup over a twin. The twin turbos were mainly designed to aid in spool up time. Single setups are MUCH less complicated, and in every case I've seen provide more power. People (ricers) just love the term "twin turbo."

Oh and not sure if people read it, but it does have a larger radiator, along with a big brake upgrade and other upgrades throughout the car.
