The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fucking temperamental.

so what's the benefit of mixing the water with the alcohol? does it increase the heat exchange property or is it to keep the water clean and keep the mister from being clogged with algae?

(just curious)

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine the evaporation properties of alcohol would improve the phase change of water as Zate explained.

Alcohol phase changes even easier than water, but you can't run just alcohol cause it would evaporate in the reservoir. Also the Alcohol most likely acts as a detergent to break up the water molecules into smaller groups and then they will more easily absorb heat.

Thanks for the info. Now I know to get a mister instead of a "sprayer". I didnt think it would work as well because it would be harder to properly aim where exactly the water would "run off to"

Question.

Does the water temprature matter? i.e. If you put regular water in there instead of ice water, would it be better because it would change temprature faster and thus evaporate faster? Or would it be better to drop some ice cubes in, because the cooler water can take away more heat?

OY good post!

This still doesnt explain why in some cases (using S4 as example) the turbo's seized because the oil didnt properly cool down resuliting in a build up in the oil lines causing lack of oil going to turbo resulting in KABOOM!.. It might just be an Audi thing though. The problem was of course - small oil feed lines. Which is why I am, and choose to be.. a "ricer"

"Name one car that comes with a TT stock" .. I'll name TWO. Even though i'm sure there are more.

Audi TT
Porsche Turbo(Late models)
**Though they arent like a normal TT. Instead - only the oil pump runs for a few minutes after the car is shut down. Different method. Same purpose.
