Need Ideas...
Well lately Ive really been contemplating getting rid of my car. I really want to put all of my time and effort into my studies. Anyway when all is said and done I should have aroung 6 grand to play with. I want something that is fairly quick, prob in the low 15s or so. Also price is a big factor. I want something that if I wanted I could also take out on weekend to an autox just to throw around and what not. Right now I am kind of looking at preludes, maybe even the SH with the ATTS or w/e it is. Basically Im just trying to get some ideas on what cars are out there b/c maybe somebody has one that I havent thought of. Thanks TR.

Low 15s? Thats a very easy goal to get with a lot of cars. I dont think Id do a prelude for auto-x.
As bias as it is, id just buy a Fox body Mustang Coupe, Toss some stiffer suspension on it and a set of rims with some stick tires all around. Nothing more fun to auto-x then a tail happy car with torque

Stock 5.0 with suspension mods .. 14s, reliable (yes, they are morons), and with basic upgrades to the suspension make them handle suprisingly well.
You can pick up a mint one for around $3,500.

Im not necasarily saying I want it setup for autox. Whatever I get it has to be reliable and Id like something good on gas. The foxbody has crossed my mind but I dont know.

A fox body for the most part will go 200k miles. You might have a few tranny rebuilds replacements, thats about it. Parts are cheap and plentiful. Its by far one of the easiest cars to work on period. Gas mileage varies, But I do get in the 22-24 range, not bad for a 300 hp motor.
