yea...our law is any mod that raises the noise level....but did he check for cats? i dont run any cats either...but im getting ready to put some "high flow" ones on just cuz of the recent crack down (cop's being assholes about everything) on exhaust, i dont want them looking underneath my truck and seeing nothing on the pipes until the muffler

Don't know about elsewhere but HCSO is targeting the exhaust thing, specifically. This was told to me by a deputy so I know it is not BS. Haven't these Nazi's got something better to do. NO.. because it selective taxation and that means $$$$$$.

This subject (law) is confusing though. I thought that if your selected and installed components were CARB legal then there is no problem. Does anyone know the straight scoop on that? What's the point of buying a CARB legal component if that doesn't mean shit? And how does Herr Officer (that has an IQ of 12 with their shoe size added in) know this. Hey...I don't think they give a crap if what they are doing is legal...just get that tax money. I mean how many of you guys have the resources to truly fight a tix like this properly (lawyer, etc.) If we had that kind of jack we would be building all motor and not taking the cheap lane to HP.

CARB legal just means you can put it on your car and pass emissions in states using CARB standards...but PCSO pushes anything they can to make money...one night we were at race track and the cop came by and handed out flyers showing the statute...its any exhaust system modification...its a $46 fine in Pinellas...non moving...they are doing this now because they want to make you pay for hanging out with people anywhere there might be racing....i had one friend get pulled over going into racetrack because of the exhaust, then we had someone get a ticket because his license plate was out of date by 8 days (same month) your license plate has to be updated by your birthday...no grace period

I think ANY 4 or 6 cylinder motor has a greater chance of being pulled over than a V8.

i completely agree with the V-8 deal, i have a loud ass car.

1 5/8" long tube headers(which are technically illegal), off road h-pipe and flowmaster 40 series 2 cambers muffs with dumps

that shit is loud as hell and ive never had a problem with cops. even coming on base and the cops on base are more strict than off base cause they have nothing better to do than give you bullshit tickets.

i have 1 5/8" long tubes as well, dual 2" pipes and a Dynomax 17725 muffler with the crossover in it...but mines a 6...it used to be dumped, but now i have tail pipes, its still loud, sounds like a small 8 at idle, but once it revs up is another story, but the Tampa Cops didnt bat an eye at me as i left sonic one night, pinellas cops didnt mess with me either...
heres my sound clip...

i have no cats on either of my cars and theyre both louder than stock by far...
ive received several exhaust tickets, but seeing as how they are non moving violations "I DONT GIVE A FUCK"
