Default Wet & Wild @ sunshine Sunday, May 16th

Some of you may remember I ran in the wet & wild last month at sunshine. What they do is wet the entire track down (oval) with soap & water, then run a 25 lap race with Demolition derby style cars. I have a 86 Crown Vic that I have run in two races, and will be running in the next one. The next race will be held on a Sunday afternoon. The regular program begins at 2:00 pm, with the wet & wild being the last thing run. Last night I picked up a car for my wife to race, I just wanted to put something in here soon enough, so if anyone is interested, I can try to find you a car. I can usually get cars for around $250, that's what I paid for mine, and my wife's last night (a woody station wagon ) It doesn't cost too much to get them ready either, strip interior, bust out the windows, weld the doors shut, and put a crash bar across the driver's door. I have gotten one ready in one day before. We should try to get a TR team together, or at least get some people out there to chear us on. If anyone is interested in running, let me know. Either way, mark your calendars, it's a blast to watch. Mullet drifting/bumper car X-games

I only have room for our two cars, so storage is up to you, sorry. Yes I have a welder, and as long as it doesn't become a big pain in the ass, I don't mind helping (I just don't want 10 people showing up the day before needing shit welded ) A crash bar should be pretty inexpensive, I got mine for free, I have about a 6 1/2 foot piece of 4 x 2 steel tubing, a friend of mine has 2 x 3 on his, call some steel supply places, you just weld it across the drivers door so if in the unlikely event you get hit in the door, nobody comes in the car with you The only safety equipment required is a working seat belt, and a helmet, though I wear a fire jacket, neck collar, and gloves, it isn't required. You can go to www.sunshinespeedway.com and look under the rules for demo derby cars to get the low down. Because I usually use crown vics, don't worry about the part that says you have to move your gas tank, because the tank is infront of the trunk they don't mess with you. If anyone already has something other than a crown vic, it's not a big deal, you just have to mount a boat type gas tank up inside the trunk. I'm glad to see so much interest, it really is a blast. Anyone that is serious, you can bring me half the money up front so I know you're serious (sorry, I just don't want a bunch of $250 crown vics sitting around), and the other half when I get the car, which shouldn't be hard (I could have probably bought two more last night, but I didn't know so many were going to be interested) Of course if I can't get one, I'll give your money back, but I don't think it should be a problem. PM me for directions.

I just checked the schedule, and if anyone is ready on time, saturday 5/8 they are having a reverse race (25 laps, backwards ) and then the week after the wet and wild, they are having a demo derby, so if storage is a problem, just take it out for the derby, destroy it, and send it to copher's If you take it to copher's yourself, they will give you around $75 for it, that's what I got for my last car, and they had to take it off my trailer with a forklift I also forgot to mention, it's $20 per person to get into the pits, and race entry is free.
