Default Time to pull the motor :D

For several different reasons...its time to pull the motor and have it refreshed. I was going to make it a 408 ci motor...but the cost is not worth it when I can just refresh mine for a fraction of the cost. I figure that $2000 would be better spent on an awesome set of heads (I already have the 6.0 cores).

I figure with the same 383 ci and some whoopass heads I can make 500 rwhp all motor and run mid to high tens. Then spray the 300 shot for mid 9s.

Sucks that I never got to make a pass at 700 hp but the crank end play is getting bad. So bad infact that when spraying it seems to be walking away from the crank position sensor cutting out ignition on occasion. Car still purrs like kitten on motor though.

So..while all critical innards are intact...Im gonna redo the bottom end. Cant wait to get started.

This damn rain is the biggest deciding factor..lol. For some reason it just makes me want to rip the whole car apart and redo everything...lol.

I may have an auto in it when it comes back out..
Depends on the fundage. I want to keep all the 6 speed stuff though...that way I can swap it out. 6 speed and 373 gears for Supra killing, and auto for track duty.

Hahaha, gee, you mean other cars can get it too? And the fact that maybe 1 in 10 of the worst crankwalkers- 97's- suffer from it doesn't mean that you should avoid all dsm's like the plague? Hush, don't spread it around, it'll start a new bandwagon. All of a sudden some neglected motorsport that takes advantage of the AWD layout will jump in popularity- I know, rallying. "No Flats Rally Team"



*edit* PS, sorry for the hijack. What's this about the LS7? Some of those nifty three-valve heads in the future, or a whole engine swap?

So what will you do? Are you just going to tear it down and put fresh bearings and rings in it, or is a lot of machine work in the offing?

AL,

Sorry to hear about the motor Man, but you know you're doing the right thing.

Made that decision 15 months and 20,000 miles ago on the current motor.

Sounds like you're still looking for for a middle of the road tranny to put in that Hot Rod.

Do a search on 4L85E and you may find another option. If all else fails, slap a Jericho or Lenco in that thing and sleep good at night. Not sure if my combo will fit under the bell housing of a F-body. Also losing 30-35% HP is a big downer.

I Like the idea of a kick-ass set of heads on a refreshed stroked and bored LQ4

Come back with a Vengeance.
