Mobil1 owns you, from what I've heard.

I've put Amsoil in my MX-6 and my Tempo. Can't tell you it's any better because I had them in there only for about 8,000 on the MX-6, and 15,000 or so on the Tempo. MX-6 is being fixed for head gasket (overheated from busted hose a few too many times) and the Tempo is back on dino because I'm out of my supply of Amsoil. And because I figured that oil better get changed sooner because the filter has the same 15,000 miles on it, and counting.

You don't need no stinkin oil. Just run a quart or two of Prolong, then drain the motor. Without the extra weight of fluid running through your motor, you will be faster.

But seriously, what about Royal Purple? Any comparisons of this brand to Mobil 1 or Amsoil?

On LS1 where was a user named Patman that does oil analyst for a living and basicly he said that, all the real synthetics (Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple) are "about" the same they out perform every other petrolum based product "Hydrocracked" or "synthetic blend". Each excel a bit better in certain areas but generally they all kick ass in comparison.

I go with Amsoil because they have been around the longest and I only like changing my oil every 7.500 miles or so.

Also...
Mobil1 is good for an "on-the-shelf" synthetic oil, but it could be better. The European Formulation for Mobil1 there is much better than the U.S. Mobil1 Formulation. It is a weaker formulation in the U.S. to compete price-wise with the other "on-the-shelf" oils.
