Check Engine Light Trouble...NEED HELP FAST

Alright, I am in a huge hurry...need to get to Jacksonville tonight, and I have to leave asap. This morning, I removed my air filter to clean it, and before putting it back on, I turned on my car. I noticed the Check Engine light came on, and remembered I hadn't replaced the filter, so I turned off the car thinking it would go away once the filter was back on. Well, it didn't. My brother told me to disconnect the battery for a bit, which I did, but the light is still on. Now, it was never on before this morning, so I assume it happened when I turned the car on without the filter in place.
Can anyone please tell me what the problem might be, and how I can fix it. Like I said, the sooner the better, because I have to get the hell outta here. Thanks.

@Steve: I did, no difference
@Gabe: That's what my brother said it could also be, but what could've gotten in there? If it is a dirty MAF, can I drive with it like that, or will something else get nutty?
Yeah, it drives fine, and I can't tell a difference, but you never know. Reset what? Need some instructions for that.

It the air filter a K&N type (oiled filter)? Do you have a MAF? We have the same problem if we oil the filter too much. A fine layer of oil will cover the MAF wires and mess it all up. Youll need to clean the MAF to get the oil off.
