um, ok. Most rotaries that I know go far over 100k. I have one now with 140k with poor maintence done (I'm assuming from what I have seen) and it runs GREAT. I'm not sure about the 12A but I have never heard of a rotor just wearing out.

please dont give advice on something that you know nothing about... a stock 12a is 100CRANK HP... so wheels you are talking 80 or so...

Notice how I said with some work done to the engine it might be laying down more, but you're right a stock 12a only pushes about 100 at the crank. Thats not too bad considering the car weighs right around 2000 lbs.

youd be hard pressed to get 140 hp out of a 12a... itll take some serious mods and fabrication to get there...


going from 160 hp on my S4 up to the magical 200 HP mark takes some serious work and cannot be done w/ simple bolt-ons. more than likely, itll require port work... which entails a full engine build.

btw... that 7 minute video of the engine not blowing up... i have that video... it was an S5 w/ a 13b, not a 12a. it was a vert. they left the radiator cap and the car over heated cuz the cooling system couldnt keep pressure and boiled the coolant and spewed it out... eventually the lack of coolant made the motor over heat and burned thru the coolant seals and Orings, then lost all compression and the engine completely died out w/ the pedal to the floor. if he had his cooling system up to snuff and left the cap on... that video wouldnt be downloadable. youd have to buy the DVD.

back in the day, when teh RX7 was first being engineered, they had a 12a on an engine stand running at like 12000 rpm or something crazy... for a long ass time... like i mean days and days, more than a week. the engine never blew. the "sensei" of the project research team pulled the plug cuz the engine had consumed too many drums of fuel and felt it had proved its endurance.
