Default pic of my 74 javelin

hi, i just got this stock 74 javelin 360v4 about 6 months ago. i'm having a 401 with indy heads and intake built. it's going to have 10.5 to 1, 560 lift cam, 3500 stall and a ford 9 inch with 3.70 gears and a 750 holley. should be done around may. i should be in the 12's but hope i get in the high 11's with slicks. i'll post time slips when the car is done. but i think i'll need a 4000 stall and 3.90 gears to get in the 11's. but you never know until you run it. a guy with all most the same setup but had ported iron stock heads and a 3000 stall and a 4.11 gear pull a best of 12.04 in same kind of car. but said car was a pig off the line. it need a 3500 min stall. friends told me 4000 stall would be best. but i wanted to keep stall down for the street.

it's going to be a street car that runs on pump gas. i kept the cam, rear gears and stall down because i want it very streetable. but if the setup doesn't work as well as i want i'll try 3.90 gears

How much power are you expecting to make on the motor. Nitrous is always an option...hehe.

Beautiful car man.

i think 490-540 hp at the flywheel. i got a pro building it and he didn't tell me yet. but other 390's and 401's that he has built where around 530 hp with iron heads and the same cam. i'll get it dyno at the rear wheels when it's done. i might go with a supercharger down the line. but i'd need to change pistons and cam and put in extra head bolts. i might do the extra head bolts with this build. but not sure since i don't need them for this build.

i think 500 hp should be good for a street car. but if it's not i'll get a supercharger.

Congradulations. You own one of the few AMC products worth having.

ya, i want a 68-70 amx bad, but they are very hard to find. i think there is only around 3000 left if that. but you can get a nice one for 10,000 to 15,000

i'm lucky i found this javelin from AZ.
amc only made around 20,000 javelins and 8000 amx's a year.
gm made like 128,000 68 camaro's

i hear from people every time i drive the car. { i haven't seen one of those in years} or { what kind of car is that? } before i found this one. i hadn't seen one in 15 years.

Ironic that I just spent about 2 hours yesterday looking at a AMC website, and decided the Javelin was probably the best looking car they made.

That and the Ferarri-like prototypes of the AMX/2 or whatever it was.

Hey Mike I guess I'm not the lone AMC lurker anymore. LoL
Good to see a pic on a Javelin here.
They are starting to get a little more publicity lately. With Indy and Edelbrock now making performance parts for them. Believe it or not Indy even has just released an aluminum block AMC just over 500 cubic inch(AMC never made anything over 401). There talking about releasing a Fuel injected 900hp version. Not bad for a company that got chewed up and spit out almost 20 years ago.
Maybe a few AMC more will pop up in the Tampa area.
For everybody else I have a 71 AMX/Javelin. Not as pretty as Mikes but its fun to drive. Get a lot of looks from people even though its gray primer. If any body sees me in the New Tampa area feel free to say hi. I've seen a few of the Tamparacing cars over at Target. A lot of nice cars.

Congrats on the car, but i think you need to do the car justice by putting some more era correct rims back on it. It just doesn't look good with rim/tire package it has now.
