Nice Engine Layout Pic
Well, today I finally got my porsche engine spec book and noticed it had a nice engine parts layout pic inside the cover. I also noticed while scanning it that since I bought it directly from the author's web site it was autographed.
I thought some of the other engine and porsche lovers on the site might enjoy the pic as much as I did

Those abundant mains are the reason why those blocks and cranks easily hold up to over 700 HP.
Its nice to know that my concervative mods are unlikely to break anything even though some of those parts are getting old.
The big fan at the bottom of the pic and the giant oil pump at the top more than make up for the lack of a pump for an unneccesary fluid in a car like water.

My buddy Simon has a 911 about your body style with a turbo rotary in it. He bought some race tranny from Eddie Bello (Porsche drag racer) and its a pretty scary ride. He's got it on ET streets and as best as they can tell, puts down about 450hp at the tires backing in and out of the throttle to keep the car pointing in the same general direction.
Moral of the story, build the motor to the point of breaking the tranny

I will still be way short of busting the tranny too.
The main reason why my car only has a four speeds when porsche had been making five speeds for years is because of the big sturdy gears and case used in the 930 tranny and the limited space in which it had to fit. There was no way to make it strong enough for its race car predecessor and have enough gears for 5 speeds.
Short of some different turbos and intercooling its the same tranny and engine that powered many a 600-700HP 935 race car.

Cool pics, I wouldn't mind having that engine in mine.
