That maybe due to the fact that they are forced to play by the rules of NASCAR. I find it weird that Toyota has to build a push rod engine. When was the last time Toyota manufactured a carb. push rod motor. Dosen't the S in NASCAR stand for stock?

Yep they are pretty pricey but still less pricey than a F1 or Indycar motor.

Do they not use a common template like the cars do.

They need to bring back the Can Am series...no restrictions on engines...it was the norm to see 1200 hp turboed cars running laps at leguna seca...those had to have been the days. 200 mph in under 12 seconds on road race tires.

Yes they will be running next year. When I was at the last race of the season I saw the trucks there, they had one of the toyotas coming out of a trailer in the driver area. The unlimited access to the homestead track really kicks ass

because what benefit would a DOHC motor give to the racing? The part that most car enthusiasts don't understand that racing is about winning, not having more technology. Using a DOHC motor won't make you win, as it has no use.

Fuel injectors are the same....infact, in a NASCAR motor, going to EFI wouldn't even help that much. It's all WOT at high rpm with little change in load.

I think I heard that in testing last week at Daytona, the Toyota's werent up to speed and were almost 3 mph slower.

Yeah, and the C stands for car, so I guess none of the rules apply to these trucks. At least the trucks start out as a v-8 rear wheel drive full frame platform, that's alot closer to stock than the v-6 front drive unibody stock cars.
