How do you get 1300 reliable hp?
Let's see how long those toyota engines last at 1300 hp constantly. My guess would be a couple of minutes before they started melting exhaust valves and puking them through the head, wherease the turbine can sustain it's max HP for a couple thousand hours, assuming it is not overtemped.

Tony, could you explain the differences between an air-worthy turbine and one that is not. I gather that a turbine that is not air-worthy is still in good shape for uses such as we are dicussing now? Just looking for some clarification and you and Hybrid seem to have a good grasp on the knowledge of turbines.

Al could answer more specifically, but certain things if they happen to a turbine render it un certifiable, what exactly, Ia m not sure, perhaps a serious overtemp, or a cracked housing or a shadetree rebuild. The engine may perform flawlessly, but is not legal to put in an aircraft. Think of the certification almost like a warranty
Your new engine from the shop may run just fine with a turbo kit, but likely it is not legalin the dealers eyes.
