I wonder whether it is better because it was done full-speed and you know it, or if it was just a good scene.

I get immersed in movies and don't often question the reality or lack of it. I'm not very critical of movies in general...it's a movie, not something to get worked up over.

I like it when they are racing and are always next to each other until they shift and then they pull away.

Oh yeah, I liked all the chase scenes in the blues brothers.

And the chase scene in the french connection is good too.

I agree here, Ronin has one of the best chase scenes I have seen in a movie ever, going the wrong way down a tunnel while shooting at ppl and get shot at, crazy stuff!
