squealing

Default squealing

Ok since the cold weather has struck my car squeals right when I start it up its really bad I almost went deaf it used to do back when it got cold and I never found out why does anyone have suggestions.

This is only a guess, but i would say it's because your belts are cold therefore more contracted and tight, i would think that would cause the initial squeal. Like i said this is only a guess.

Would they really contract that much? It's not really cold out.

Might want to change the belts anyhow, just in case. My wagon had a squeaking belt, determined it was the alternator belt, bought all new belts. 2 days later, it stopped squeaking, because the belt broke! Fortunately I had the belts in the car, so I just changed it when I got where I was going.

Dunno...could be your PS pump needing fluid, mine squeals when it has drained (I have a leak). Fillerup and it stops squeaking.

belts need to be oiled.. they have stuff at autozone in a spray can for that...

well..not neccessarily oiled but if it's really dry the rubber doesn't exactly have elasticity...

Well also when I downshift its squeaks a little too but only when the car is cold also when I downshift to go faster not for stopping.

You could also have a bad idler pulley bearing.
