what makes an engine break up? Like you hear a late model mustang and it is all one sound but you hear the dragsters and you hear it unconsistent?? What makes that? you hear each individual firing order..... I dont understand that?

cam shaft profile, head/combustion chamber type, compression, idle, etc...
it all plays into it..
also, if you're talking about the T/F dragsters, they're in a class all to their own with the Nitro Methane they burn...

They are all basically airpumps. Some are just better than others.
my favorite is the Ferrari flat 12 - and the V-6 in the Dino, and of course the Porsche Flat 6 at 6800 rpm's!

that and EVERY subaru sounds the damn same... the dohc 16v 2.0 ej20 open deck, the dohc 16v 2.5 semi closed deck ej25 in the STi, the SOHC ej18 1.8L, the SOHC 2.5l ej25 n/a...

for some reason they all sound the same, or very similar, even under boost with a header like mine, as the stock manifolds are as far from equal length as it gets!
