importing a car to the US is a bitch. i was talking to a guy at a show about his company. they import skylines. said that they have to be held in customs for like three months for inspections, has to change over shit to meet US specs, have to apply for licensing. said it was real expensive

you can import it for one year for 'show or race' purposes i believe and then just get it sent offshore and brought back in once a year. or get the proper bumpers, lighting, door reinforcements etc. i believe you can also import the shell and motor seperately or something like that.

if you're wanting to import something that isnt available here, you might have less hassle going through motorex or someone who is able to do it pretty easily cuz either way you're going to wait. if its just a rhd car that is available here in lhd, IMO its a waste of money.

Here's a link to ALL of the info you need. Plus a list of phone numbers/addresses/weblinks to registered to do conversions.

Link-

Here's a link to a registered importer in Cape Coral, FL
http://www.sunshine-car-import.com/

This is an expensive process.

i dont think taka made his fd legal but did what dan said, brought it over and said it was for "show or race" purposes only, i believe he had it shipped back after a year.
