is the RX-8 a good buy?

There are headers, catback, intakes, full suspension and all other mods on the way. A guy I know at a local dealer says they are selling well and they are getting some more in. There are already some styling options that look very good. If I had the money, I'd definitely get one for a daily driver.

rotary's arent that bad. the main thing with the rotarys was the apex seals, as soon as those went, you might as well buy a new engine. for a daily driver, i would own a RX-8. from what i hear about the new renesis engine, they've remedies that problem, but only time will tell.
anyone who knows about rotary engines and has built them knows that the rotary engine will not produce 100% power until its had at the least 6000 miles..all the cars everyone is comparing to, are brand new and have less than 500 miles on them," maybe more miles on some"
Rotary engines will produce 30% less power until everything has become friction free and the power it produced way up top of the rpm range..
I drove the RX8 with my wife, without a salesman, and I had no problem catching 3rd gear and hitting 115 in a little more than quarter mile in 3rd gear..They claim 14.5 @ 96, but with that much speed, that shows with good traction its a 13.9 to 14.2 car.
So do you dyno a new V-8 with 500 mile..only if your stupid..the only thing that have broken in @ 500 is the rings, nothing else...and any good engine builder knows this and knows its takes a good 2500 miles for a pistion engine to breakin and a rotary has probadly 300% less friction to start with, hence the long breakin period....
also a header will produce up to 60 HP on a 13B S4/S5 the RX8 exhaust manifold is an exact duplicate of those N/A models, and is design with one purpose in mind to keep the fucker quiet.. Rotary engines need good designed piping to ensure the pressure waves to not collide with the out going flow, but this is how they keep it quiet.. Mazsport has already modded one and claimed over 300 HP

Is the RX-8 a good buy? For me it was, for some it isn't. After having owned a numerous Detroit Iron and severla Mazdas (piston engines) and then a 2000 Celica GT-S, I can honestly say I love my RX-8. No it isn't the fastest car out there, but it handles pretty damn good, I like the looks over anything else available in the price range, especially the interior compared to the 350Z or the Evo or WRX. I will say this: The Rotary is such a strange and unusual engine, but I don't think I could or will ever own a piston engine car again.
As far as Mazda is concerned This is my fourth Mazda and all of them (total of 250k miles) spent less time in the shop for repairs than my 2000 GT-S with 60k miles.
So I have either had extremely good luck, or Mazda builds a pretty good car, and I'm hoping the RX-8 won't change my views. So far 2100 miles and no problems.
