I seen in in Sports Compact Car november 2003 issue that " Mazda's Renesis Wins International Engine of the Year" Its the best new motor of 2003 and Its the best 2.5L to 3.0L engine. It says " The judges are hugely impressed byt the RX-8 smoothness, refinements, performance, and eco friendliness. Indeed, 44 of the judges voted for there engine to be the Internation engine of the year 2003.

I dont care for the RX-8s body... The concepts of the new RX-7's look bad ass.

If u really enjoy handling and braking then that is the car for you...
But they are just to damn slow..

I dunno, car and driver still seemed to get good times out of it regardless of HP... plus it has a lot of room for kids and other stuffs... thats why I think maybe my next daily driver would be a used RX-8 as well as doubling as an autoX car...

Yeah, but the Elise is:

a) 10,000 bucks more

b) a totally minimalist *OEM* car

They aren't in the same league. Never intended to be either.

ya'll keep thinking about drag racing too much...... It seems like a very practical and fun car.. maybe its not worth the cash towards some of its performance competitors, but what other sporty car has enough room for a 6'4" guy to stretch out in the back with a laptop

It is not a drag car. It has 4 doors/seats. It is not an RX7. I repeat, it is NOT a predecessor to the RX7. It is aimed to be a unique sports SEDAN. There are headers, catback, intakes, full suspension and all other mods on the way. A guy I know at a local dealer says they are selling well and they are getting some more in. There are already some styling options that look very good. If I had the money, I'd definitely get one for a daily driver.

Compared to the other cars that do the same as the RX-7, it's fast.

We've gone over this.

-Honda S2000 (240hp)
-Acura TL (225hp)
-Acura RL (225hp)
-Audi A6 (220hp)
-Audi S4 (250hp)
-BMW 330 (225hp)
-Cadillac CTS (220hp)
-Inifinity G35 (260hp)
-Jaguar S-type (240hp) This car is OVER 40,000 dollars
-Lexus ES300 (210hp) Now THIS is underpowered for the price
-Lexus IS3000 (215hp)
-Lincoln LS (232hp)
-Mercedes E-type (221hp)
-Saab 9-3 (210hp)
-VW Passat (190hp)

**ALL** of these cars are in the same price range. And most are 4 doors, like the RX-8.

Not to mention that it's lighter than about every one of those with the exceptions of the s2000, a minmalistic sports car, and the IS300 is probably right about the same weight, yet has less power.
