I just let the car sit for 15 seconds to let the oil reach the valve train then just drive slowly untill it's at operating temp.

Well honda is smart obviously this probably has some sort of effect on the longevity of the car. I mean i dont belive to many other cars have stuff like that. But on a cold fresh start you can't rev the engine up. It just wont happen. I dont know why. but It doesn't work for me
Ford's VCT and Toyota's VVT-i is the same way as Honduhs

My diesel will not get off the peg unless you drive it, even if you let it idle for 20 minutes, but it does allow the engine to hit operating temp about a half mile sooner on my commute like clockwork if I let it idle about 5 minutes before I leave. Sumbitch still takes almost tenmiles before the oil is to temp (pressure goes to normal)

You are correct, says Mark-the-AAA-Auto-Expert: Cars today do not require a warm-up period. The computerized engine controls monitor the fuel delivery and temperature to maximize engine efficiency and performance. There may be some instances that require extra time to defrost a windshield or de-ice wiper blades but they have nothing to do with vehicle performance. In short: Warming up a car today is not required and actually wastes gas.

I get in my car, start it up, pu my phone, wallet and anything else I have with me away and then start driving easily until the car reaches a normal operating temp. Just the simple act of situating yourself in your car with it running is enough time to get oil to all the vital parts of the engine before you start driving.

I let my car warm up at least 5min before I take off. It gives the oil a chance to warm up and "thin" out a bit so it circulates better. The oil is thicker when cold, my car shows 75psi when cold and 18psi at temp, that is a big difference!
I figure it is better to be safe then sorry.
