Yeah, the only thing I can think of is a HUGE gearing advantage...
For instance... The STi has ~1hp/lb ratio...and runs high 12s...and will get a good launch.
The Elise is right about the same power to weight, but a lot less torque, and it's not going to produce the same 60' time as the STi, ALTHOUGH a mid engined car like the Elise will still launch pretty darn well methinks.
