oh yeah and i almost forgot, if that is the case and you still would like to break 14's, im not sure if they make one for the mustang but Auto Power makes GREAT lookin functional roll cages that can be like a 4 pt cage. they are bolt in and take no more than an hour or 2 to install (in a vert, i helped put one in a hard top BMW what a pain in the ass lol) and people can still use what little back seat was there originally, it is pretty non intrusive and stiffens the car up immensely

If your goal is a regular 302 with no performance upgrades, call NAPA or Autozone and price a longblock. You will get a mileage warranty that way, and it will save you some legwork.

When do I need a roll bar or roll cagE?
A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.99 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and in other cars beginning at 11.99. The roll bar is accepted in vehicles running as quick as 10.00 second e.t., provided the stock firewall and floorboard is intact, other than for installation of wheel tubs. The rollbar must be constructed of minimum 1 ¾ inch o.d. x .118 inch wall mild steel tubing, or 1 ¾ x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:
