got a problem...
On the surface, this one sounds a little off the wall but if you think about it, it's possible and I've heard guys swear this is what happened to them...
If there's crap in your gas tank (rust, gunk, whatever), it is possible that as you drive, this stuff is sucked up against the sock filter for the intank pump. As the crud builds up, it gets harder and harder for the gas to pass thru the filter until your car finally starves for gas and dies. As the car sits for a while, the pressure in the fuel line slowly bleeds back into the tank and effectively backflushes the crud off of the sock filter. Eventually, you are able to start up the car and start the process all over again. It's a PITA to change out the intank pump/filter so I'd exhaust all other possibilities before I got into cleaning out the tank and doing the filter/pump swap. BTW, if you do do this, take this opportunity to put in a kick-ass pump to cover future mods and 10 sec. timeslips. Good luck.

thanks a lot guys. i'm gonna go to a friend's house later in the week to see what's up and check on everything ya'll told me to. i'll keep you updated. oh yeah, the car turns over, but doesn't start up for a while after it stops. i don't think any of my stock gauges work, so i can't really tell anything. how would i check the fuel pressure? is there a tool that i need to find?

you'll need a fuel pressure guage... you can get one that screws right into the fuel rail for like $40 bucks.....
and as doctor dirt said... if you do go through the hassle of dropping the fuel tank... spend the $100 bucks on a nice new walbro 255lph pump.....

Well there should also be a schrader vavle on your injector rail... probably has a cap on it you have to take off first.. u can just stick a pen or somthing in it to see if you have pressure,... make sure u have a wrag covering it tho. Dont want any gas getting in your eyes lol But i would suggest getting a guage if you can afford it
