My timing (both cam and ignition) is bumped/tuned so I must run 93. Even 91 makes it ping a bit.

Before the mods, I got some pinging on hot day's, bumped up to 89 and it cleared it. Now I run 93 due to mods such as timing adjuster at 14 deg, and C&L maf. I was able to sucessfully run 89 octane last week on a road trip to Missouri, turned the timing down to factory spects and only had slight pinging under hard acceleration. i found if I did not rev it past 3500, no ping.

sad part is i knew a friend that did all the gas delivery and it was all the same gas for all the 83 89 93or w/e other numbers there are the only thing that makes it higher is this solution that he put in after he fills the tanks and btw the solution he puts in is only like a teaspoon.but i might be wrong

PS i have a pinging noise and i dont think its my gas

Very close.

There is one tank of high test and low test at every gas station. The pumps mix the two to give you the 3 or 4 different octane fuels.
