why is that? ive heard the 3550 can hold its own pretty well.
Mine was whining and grinding after only 1000 miles of 450 hp. That was during break in, no real wailings. The TKO is definately a worthy step up.

Good choice. But the only thing bad about the tko 2 is 5th gear is .80 That's pretty high and with your 4.10's. Example...

Me
4.56 x .67 = 3.0552 Me in 5th gear.

You
4.10 x .80 = 3.28 You in 5th gear.

So with that being said you'll be worse off than me at crusing speeds. Don't get my wrong I'm all for bigger gears but if your gonna keep your car streetable then u may want to go with just a TKO. Same ratios from 1st to 4th. If I remember correctly me at 70 mph I'm at 3k rpms. -Mark
Mark, the figures you posted above are so close its not really even worth worrying about. Factor in the increased strength and resale value of the TKO2, coupled with the fact that Scotts car rarely gets driven on the street, and it shouldn't even be a question.
IMO that is a difference that's definately noticable. .2248 is alittle bigger jump than going from 4.10's to 4.30's. I've driven a car with 4.10's then driven one with 4.30's. I can definately notice a SOTP difference. On the highway that will be a difference in alittle over 150 rpms. I know that's not a big difference on a tach but drive an hour to BMP, that shit gets on your nerves. I really don't care about resale since the car is not original anyways. That's a mute point. Who the hell wants to buy a carb'd car anyways! j/k. -Mark

me waits for Scott reply.

i look at it this way... since your going back in technology with your engine (carbed) why not do so with your tranny......

i say find you an old 40' ford and take the tranny out of that.... then put a bunch of realy old fossils and such in there to make it aged...... then you'll have the ultimate archaic setup for your beast !!!!!!!!!!

dang blang injectors and alloys.......
