Lauren: Is that really your car? I love cougars, have you taken it to the track? What do you have done to it and is it a 68?

No, but install it anyway. Only cars with serious horsepower should be using a stall that high.

It won't be a very friendly street converter, but you can make it work.. Trans might run a little hotter, so I'd definately have a cooler installed. For a street converter I'd have something in the mid 2k rpm range..
Of course, you'll never get it to stall that high without a trans brake, foot braking it will get you to about 2000-2200rpms..

How does a tranny brake specifically work? Can you post up a pic/ or what components does it consist of/ how does it interact with tranny? I've talked to people that had them, but their cars were built in a pro shop, so they didn't know anything about them . Thanks

Not if you're gonna drive it around town a lot, or it's your daily driver.

In a nutshell what a Transbrake does is lock first and reverse through a solenoid when the button is pressed. Once the button is released the reverse gear is released and the car launches forward (like popping the clutch in a stick car). With having your gas pedal pressed all the way to the floor, the RPM that the motor revs up to while on the brake is called the "stall".
Here's a good link that talks about how the transbrake's internals works.

Also, you will need to have a reverse manual valve body to use a transbrake. There used to be someone who manufactured a standard valve body with a brake, but I have not seen it for some time.
