Default Cooling system problems

So my mustang doesn't seem to be cooling properly. Problem: it heats up pretty dang high but not to the point of overheating. I initially thought it was a botched thermostat so i ditched it, still same problem. So i then proceeded to flush out my system, still same problem. I have no idea what it could be. Any ideas???

you need a thermostat...buy a new one and put it in. With no t-stat, water passes through the radiator too fast and dont have time to disapate the heat

Whats the temp at? what kind of car and mods might help too

I'll look into getting one. It's a 98 mustang gt, the only real mod is the intake that i put in and something done with the headers before i bought it. what strikes me as odd is that even after a whole day of no use the temp gauge on my dash shows the needle in the middle, so i don't know if the temp sensor could be busted as well?

I would pick up a cheap water temp gauge at advance and hook it up and see what it says. There is no reason for your gauge to be sitting in the middle when the car is cool. Sounds like a bad sensor, bad gauge, or somebody before you did gauge faces and uninstalled them wrong.

Sounds like a dash issue like ^^^ is saying. So in reality if needle starts in the middle when cool, it would show hot when coulf be at normal temp

That's a relief to hear lol, im tired of getting things replaced for the cooling system. First it was the intake manifold, then the upper hose, i was hoping it wasn't something internal this time. So how would i fix the gauge?

Yep nothing like a cheapo mechanical gauge to diagnose temp issues. It might be the sending unit itself, if you unplug it see if it goes all the way down to zero. Then plug it back in and see if it goes halfway (when cold) that would be a decent indication of whether it is the sending unit.

If I remember correctly, there are two water temp sensors on your car. One talks to the computer, and one talks to your gauge. They are on your intake manifold on each side of the alternator. One is right beside the t-stat housing.
