Know anyone that is hiring?
LOL I just got Hired the other day at the McDonald's in Lutz, making $6/hr not too bad but I'm getting 30/hr a week and I have weekends off.
Hard getting a job there? only in you an inbred or have -10 I.Q.
I also have a second job at Domino's Pizza, you have to be 18 to deliver but I'm hanging out there until I turn 18 makin 5.25, kinda sucks but its a fun job.

There are 15 year olds working at Sears.
Anyway, I don't understand why people earlier in this thread basically told young HondaHunter that he was only good enough for food service jobs. I'd feel kind of insulted, especially since there are alot of other jobs out there that pay the same w/o that wonderful french fry smell. Don't get me wrong, fast food is an honest job just like many of the others I listed, but I wouldn't appreciate being told that was all I was good for.
Just thought of this, there are also restaurant who hire younger guys as bus boys as well. I pulled a job like that just to get into the restaurant so I could move up to be a server. If you're sharp and have a good personality, they will pick up on it quickly and hopefully move you to make some real money up front waiting tables. It's not bad, but you do bust your ass for the money.
**Side note** Does anyone know of a place that is looking for a computer graphics guy? Still searching for a job to put my talents (so people say) to work.

Ya i had 3 jobs of being a bus boy, my last one was at Macaroni Grill on Dale Mabry when they opened back up. But they hired to many bussers and killed my hours plus some others, I racked up 900 in one month. What pisses me off the most is I bus the table so fast saturday nights and I got laid off? wtf I called some other places, seems like everyone is wanting 18 yr olds only, sucks. Im gonna try my bowling alley, Florida Lanes, since I been there for a good 11 years.

Don't ever feel that you are "too good" to take a very craptastic entry-level position. I took a part-time position ($7.50/hr with unreliable work hours) as a phone recruiter at Schwartz Market Research just to get some extra cash and some market research experience while I was looking for a full time position. Not even 2 months later I ended up with an offer for a full-time position with decent pay, benefits, my own office, etc. I know my experience is not typical, but you never know unless you give it a shot.
My thoughts are if you know what type of job you want or what type of career you wish to pursue...talk to people in that field/industry. Find out how they got there, and possibly ask them for a recommended course of action to help you get a foot in the door. Networking works wonders.

Ok,
1. He's 17 and in HS, so his hours of availibility are pretty limited.
2. He's under 18, so the duties he can perform are pretty severely limited by laws -- can't lift much. can't work past like 10pm, can't operate nearly any equipment, can't server alcohol (lawyers and frivolous lawsuits suck)
3. Many places require cashiers to be 18, so alot of retail jobs are out.
4. Even alot of busboy type jobs require that you be 18 -- liability again.
That leaves most of the craptastic food service jobs, and a rare few telemarketing style jobs.
