Default Titanium connecting rods?

any pros or cons on using a set of Titanium connecting rods for my 5.4 turbo setup? from my BMX days Titanium was one of the lightest and strongest materials available, but i dont know about using it in an engine.

I believe it has some issues with thermal expansion. Think SR-71 -- it has a titanium skin and grows like 6 inches when at speed. Granted those temperatures are higher than would be seen in an engine, but it needs to be fairly stable.

I'd hate to have a piston slap a valve because the engine got too warm and the connecting rod got longer.

Billet rods will do just fine. Go on Corral.net and PM Boss330(Al Papito). He has built a couple of 5.4 motors. He's gone with billet rods in his motor and he spins it to 7k all the time.

The rotating weight would be a lot less when using those rods, so what type of crank and pistons would have to be looked at very closely.

Unless you are building some 2,000 h.p. beast I would think a good set of H-Beam rods and good fasteners would be just fine.
Expense isn't really a concern. The motor will have a ModMax Billet Crank and custom CP pistons, and approx 1300+rwhp on tap.
