Isnt it harder financing a used car when you are buying from a private person, thats why im look at dearlerships.
Check out what kind of financing you can get through whatever bank you are with. I would imagine you won't have any problems financing a 96-up car purchased through a private seller. People run into problems when they want to finance older cars that aren't "collectables" whose blue book values are much lower than the price the private seller is asking.

Yeah, but Ive never bought a used car from a private person. Do you find the car and then go to bank and get it finaced then they give a check to you so you give the seller help me im stupid when it comes to this.

Hum there is a guy on autotrader selling a 96 Cobra with built motor and supercharger making 430 rwhp or something like that

I'm pretty sure thats the way you do it. You may want to check with the bank before hand and tell them what kind of car you are looking to finance. That way you will know before hand whether or not you can even get a loan on the type of car you are looking for.

If you can find one, get your hands on a Mustang and Ford trader. There are a fair amount of low mileage, mint condition 96-98 Cobras in there.

Yeah ive looked through it only thing that sucks though is that there are all over the nation, and I dont want to deal with that.

Im starting to lean away from the 99 Cobra cause of the IRS and how it does lend well to drag racing.

Indeed, the IRS sucks for dragging....however, it can be put to good use in the twisties at an auto-X

Just ask Leonard....he'll tell you all about it.

OH shit....you're right. I thought it was mostly local cars for sale. But still, even with some of the distances you may have to drive...there are some very low mileage '98 Cobra coupes in there in the $17-21k range. One of them had 11k miles on it, bone stock, for $21k. Not bad considering.

If you go with an IRS equipped Cobra, you will become very familiar with the term wheel hop. If your main intention is to drag race the car, get a 96-98 Cobra or you can swap the IRS for a live rear axle in the '99. Just remember the '99 has a host of problems starting with the infamous "fix" that I bet some Cobra owners have yet to get. Even with the "fix", some still ran like ass...and there are more than just a few people running around on their 2nd motor due to faulty bearings.

Between a 99+ GT and 96-98 Cobra are they about the same in performance, with the Cobra being a tad bit faster?

Stock that's true, but the 96-98 Cobra has a lot more potential with mods then a GT does.
